Non-verbal communication is often the only form of communication identified for certain people suffering from severe multiple disabilities. By means of very archaic sounds such as mouth noises, vocal and melodic variations, the music therapist will try to connect with the emotional state of the patient in order to establish an informal dialogue with each other, thus helping him to identify himself as an audible subject within a possible relationship. This article is based on a clinical situation that occurred in a co-therapy setting as well as on an individual coaching with two patientsliving in a specialist care home. National audience
