Résumé
It's human nature to remember our “firsts”. I still remember the first time I gave intravenous alteplase for acute ischaemic stroke to a young man with severe neurological impairment. His wife, heavily pregnant with their first child, faced the prospect of becoming the carer for both her child and husband in just a few weeks. But the young man responded to alteplase and made a remarkable, almost “Lazarus”, recovery. He walked out of hospital 4 days later in time to be with his wife when she gave birth.
